Costa Rica Massage School Participates In Community Massage And Tamales Workshop In Santo Domingo

On Saturday, September 10th, the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy teamed up with Andrea Keith, Executive Director of Asociacion CREAR, to provide free massages to the community. CREAR is a local non-profit organization that provides supplemental education to children and adults in Samara and surrounding areas. The students also took part in a cooking workshop.

Tess McGrath, Director of Operations for the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy, says, "Part of what CREAR does is organize volunteer events, and the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy has made a donation to CREAR on behalf of the Mariposa 2016 class as a thank you for coordinating our event."

The event took place in a small village atop a beautiful hillside overlooking Samara and Carrillo Bays. The massage therapy students provided free massages to over 40 members of the community and then participated in a cooking workshop. The workshop included the preparation and assembly of Costa Rican Tamales, which is a traditional dish of meat and vegetables wrapped in corn masa and all wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. More on the massage and tamale event can be seen at https://crsmt.com/3877-2/. Along with the details of the two events, the school also announced that the Samara Massage Center Student Clinic is now open to the public.

"Our students are ecstatic to be practicing full-body therapeutic massage in our student clinic starting this week," says McGrath. "The community in Samara has shown amazing support for the students by scheduling massages at our Samara Massage Center throughout the week. We invite anyone interested to like us on Facebook to learn more about this and other exciting announcements we have coming."

McGrath says that the center features beautifully appointed treatment rooms equipped with air conditioning and relaxing music. The school states that they typically have 15 to 25 appointments available daily. To book appointments, clients can stop by the center, call, or book online. The clinic will run Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM until the end of the Mariposa class in November.
