(Mumbai, India) June 30, 2015 -- True School of Music, India’s first comprehensive institute of contemporary music now offers students a specialization in Guitar, with its unique Pro Guitar classes. Pro Guitar classes are aimed at creating a versatile performer. The course enables students to learn different genres of music like Rock, Blues, Latin, R&B, Jazz and Funk that enable a musician to use these skills either in session or while on the stage. An understanding of these styles not only helps students in pursuing independent music but also commercial Bollywood and non-Bollywood music.

Course Specification:
The guitar classes can take in students at very basic levels and then induct them to more advanced concepts and techniques over three distinct levels of learning. The course helps understand the technicalities of the Guitar and how these are applied during performances. For example, Guitarists will learn scales, bar chords, fingering techniques (left hand) and strumming techniques (right hand) building harmonic and rhythmic abilities.
By the end of Level one a successful student will be able to play major and minor pentatonic and full scales, have an understanding of the CAGED system, play all major and minor chords in all keys, read and interpret lead sheets, develop technique through the use of appropriate exercises, a basic ability to improvise using the scales studied, develop an understanding of the guitars role in different styles, develop basic rhythms and timing through the use of the metronome and develop an appreciation of style.
Students will have the opportunity to learn the riffs from songs like “You Really Got Me” by the Kinks, “Sunshine of Your Love” by Cream and “Bo Diddley” by Bo Diddley. Students will also have the opportunity to learn lead and solo parts from songs like “Black Night” by Deep Purple, “Roll Over Beethoven” by Chuck Berry and “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd.
Course Faculty:
Odysseas Tomazou mentors this course. Tomazou is from Cyprus and has been playing the classical guitar and piano since the age of 6. After a few years he switched to electric guitar. In 2011 he came to the Netherlands to study Jazz Guitar at the Conservatory of Amsterdam under the guidance of great musicians such as Martijn van Iterson, Maarten van der Grinten and Jesse van Ruller. He also attended masterclasses from innovative players such as of Scott Henderson, Lage Lund, Peter Bernstein, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Gilad Hekselman and Brad Mehldau. During his studies in Amsterdam, Odysseas toured through Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Cyprus) with many bands in various projects. Since 2015, Odysseas is composing his own music and he is currently recording his own album.
Courses are taught during the weekday, evenings and weekends and are designed to be full time or fit around either work or additional study commitments.
