The baby thermometer checks the temperature with the press of a single button, a beep sounds a second later that indicates the temperature has been measured which is then displayed on the digital LCD screen. It also displays a smiley face next to the reading if the temperature is normal and a sad face if the temperature is high. To conserve battery power, the display turns off after 10 seconds of inactivity.
Doctors advise not to check the temperature right after a baby shower or baby bath as that would alter the body temperature. Fever, though not an illness itself could be a symptom of a sickness or infection in babies.
